Pyeloscopy

What is a pyeloscopy?

A pyeloscopy is a procedure using a pyeloscope which enables a surgeon to reach the inner portions of the kidney to treat stones located in the kidney. A pyeloscope is a flexible telescope with ports through which fine surgical instruments are inserted to reach the stones being treated.

Does a stent need to be reinserted after ureteroscopy or pyeloscopy?

Sometimes a temporary stent will need to be inserted after surgery, but this is usually for patient comfort or safety.
